In many cases, recruiters reject the candidates who don’t have them. For more information about the same, It is important to discuss with your concerned subject experts, friends and family working in the industry. Further, Most of the online job portals give you enough information to the candidates. I have seen candidates with good research about the job and its characteristics, outperformed in the interview.

Since the importance gives those with a good understanding of the job role, it signals us to prepare and make a perfect plan to prepare yourself. Prepare a matrix or a table with all the duties listed as rows and Action plan to achieve the skills and knowledge as each column. Step 3: Resume and Covering letter Preparation

Resume acts as a gate pass for all the aspirants, as employers call applicants based on their resume. I have written an article on “resume format for the fresher” that highlights sample format, sections, Do’s and Don’ts of the resume. The resume has to be prepared with care based on expert advice or professional guidance. While preparing the resume, keep the employer’s point of view as your prime view as they don’t have enough time to go through the complete resume.

Moreover, get the resume proofread and checked by someone who knows well and makes necessary alterations. Finally, Candidates should avoid silly mistakes such as copying the career objective from other resumes, Inconsistent format and irrelevant information not specific to the job.

Step 4: Highlight the keywords in the resume and List down the same

Keyword(s) referred to as an important job specific word(s) that most of the applicant tracking system looks for in a resume. It is the art of identifying all the keywords related to the job you are applying for and record them. Later, try to add those in the resume into different sections based on its suitability. At the same time, it is also important to prepare on each keyword (What, Why, When, Where and How).

Therefore, it is recommended to read as many job descriptions as possible on various job portals and get all the keywords listed in Excel. Networking skills are one of the important interpersonal skills. It helps you to communicate with people working in the industry and get valuable information related to the job. Most of the employers start with an ice-breaking question – tell me about yourself. I have written an article on what you must include in the answer for your reference. It is recommended to be creative, active and exhibit your excellent communications in answering all the questions. A well-planned answer helps you be more confident during the interview. Another important question to prepare is “Why should I hire you?”- You must justify in your answer that how you can be an asset to the prospective employer. The answer must be clear and focused on the question, rather than a lengthy irrelevant answer.

We must follow one simple rule KISS – Keep it short and simple. Honestly speaking, Recruiters like to hear a straightforward answer and give preference to those who give smart and straightforward answers rather than misleading or deviating ones.

Step 8: Follow Up

Candidates should understand the following up each application they submit and writing a thanking note to those who given you an opportunity to attend the Interview. Aspirants should understand their odds or chances of rejection. In addition, they should be ready to face the same positively. We must ask for the feedback and work on the betterment rather than being upset. Every interview you face will become and experience. Thus, It boosts your confidence in the next. Most of the aspirants lose their hopes and settle back and blame the market conditions.

However, If a candidate tries harder, one or the other day will turn his way. I met a student who has attended 31 interviews and got rejected in all. Even though he has not been selected, he tried even hard compared to the past and made it. Failures are part and parcel of life. Especially, during the job hunting process, we should keep up the morale.
